Not The Best Ending For The Celts

Look the effort to come back from down 20 was great. The late game shot making from Tatum and Brown was incredible. But at the end of the day, poor late game execution cost the Celtics the chance from having a 3-1 lead in this series. Given the way they started this game, they have no one but themselves to blame for this loss, even on the game’s biggest play, they had some blame it how it worked out

Now Dave makes a great point. This was 100% a foul, and I’m sure we’ll see the league admit that in the 2 Minute Report. But here’s the thing. Situational awareness is key, and on this play Jaylen had the ball and a lead with 40 seconds left. He didn’t need to force it around 4 Bucks and even give a play like this a chance of happening. Granted it was a brutal missed call that led to this three

but even on that play we see Semi get a little lost in the transition defense and he’s slow to close out the corner. Then on the very next possession, nobody puts a body on Giannis

The Celts allowed 2 OREB all day, so this kind of stung, but is their own doing.

Then we get to the final shot. I’m aware that Morris has come through in the past, but given the situation, he was 4-13 before that shot and Jaylen/Tatum had been on fire. You have to find a way to give them a look because we know that when things get sticky, Morris will just fall back into his midrange like he did on that shot. Personally I would have liked to see something at the rim, but you live with the results. It’s a make or miss league.

More tomorrow, but yeah this one was a tough one to swallow.
