Four More Teams Punch NCAA Tournament Bids Headlined by Kansas

download

Well, if you have two comebacks against the same team you technically have none. So because of that Kansas decided to do it for a third time against West Virginia. The Mountaineers looked to be in control of this game before Kansas remembered it was the second half against West Virginia. Seriously, it’s impressive how they just turn it on against them in the second half – and no West Virginia fans, this wasn’t the refs fault.

At the same time of that going on, San Diego State ended up winning the MWC over New Mexico. I’m telling you this team with a healthy Trey Kell is damn good. They have wins over Gonzaga, Georgia and Nevada (twice) with Kell healthy. He absolutely took over this game, whether it was hitting big threes or waiting for the shot clock to wind down and ultimately going into an ISO set and beating his defender to the hoop. This was a wildly entertaining game, with New Mexico getting up and then going cold.

Earlier today you had NC Central beat Hampton and Texas Southern beat Arkansas Pine Bluff to clinch their bids. Hampton and Texas Southern were the No. 1 teams in their respective conferences. The big story here though is LeVelle Moton, who is going to be getting a bigger job in the real near future. Moton has been at NC Central since 2009 and has brought them to now three NCAA Tournaments in the MEAC. The dude can coach. You can say the same about Mike Davis and Texas Southern. Yes, the same Mike Davis that led Indiana to a championship game. They also became the first team to go 0-13 and make the NCAA Tournament. Granted, those 13 games were all buy games, that says a lot about what Davis can do as a coach.

All in all, this locked up Kansas as a No. 1 seed and kept WVU on the 4/5 seed line, most likely 4 seed line. This also means that San Diego State is going to be an incredibly popular pick to win a game as like a 12/13 seed.

18 in, 50 to go.
