The Ratio On This "Why Is Brooklyn Barbecue Taking Over The World?" Tweet Is Hilarious

Laugh out loud funny. That ratio is never ever good  for the person who sent the tweet. A couple hundred retweets, a few hundred Likes and FOUR THOUSAND comments. When the number of comments greatly outweighs the number RT and Likes, you done fucked up. People are upset with you and the Mute This Conversation button just became your best friend. Although the Munchies Twitter account knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they fired off that tweet. “Hey what’s something people really care about? Okay yeah, barbecue. Now what’s a city that everyone likes to make fun of? Ohhhh Brooklyn. Good one” and a controversial tweet was born. The tweet that launched 4,000 comments. That’s how you internet in 2018.

Cause it turns out people have some thoughts about Brooklyn supposedly taking over the barbecue world. Who knew?!? It’s really not all that surprising why people are upset. The three things people get riled up about in this country are religion, politics and who has the best low-and-slow meats. Any other topics are fair game. Sports, movies, TV shows and light beers are all fine topics. But bring up God, public policy or brisket recipes and you better be ready for war. Barbecue is the 3rd rail. My guess is the majority of people sending those 4,000 tweets are from places like Kansas City and Dallas and Memphis and Nashville and St. Louis. Those cities are the bastions of barbecue in America. And they’ll be damned if they let those cuffed jean-sporting, winter-hat-in-the-summer-wearing, “Their older albums were better”-saying hipsters take their delicious crown. They won’t let it happen. Their voices will be heard under that Munchies tweet until the next thing to get mad at comes along.
