Oklahoma State Beats Kansas To Snap One Of the Most Absurd Streaks

Yes, everyone knows about the streak involving Kansas and winning the Big 12 regular season title. But, did you know Bill Self has never been swept by a Big 12 opponent? Well, that was until today when Oklahoma State – in what was considered a down year – swept Kansas. That’s right. First year head coach Mike Boynton swept Bill Self. Pretty absurd.

Mike Boynton should be in consideration for coach of the year awards, though likely won’t win any. In his first year he’s had to deal with the FBI probe, taking over a somewhat depleted roster and has Oklahoma State at 18-13 and on the bubble. The Cowboys don’t have a bad loss with a sweep of Kansas, a win over Texas, Texas Tech and at West Virginia and semi-away vs Florida State. That’s an impressive resume heading into the Big 12 Tournament. A win there and we’re really talking about the Big 12 getting eight, MAYBE nine teams into the NCAA Tournament.

Kendall Smith led the way for Oklahoma State with 25 points but it was Mitchell Solomon who led the way early. Solomon finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds to complete the upset. In all seriousness, what a ridiculous stat though and what a way to end it.
