Breaking News: Josh McDaniels Stays in New England

Holy Schniekies. Josh McDaniels, after accepting the Colts job and then supposedly not being interested in the Colts job but then accepting the Colts job, decides not to take the Colts job.  And so the weirdest season in Patriots history continues to get weirder.

I cannot even being to process this. Like I said Monday, Sunday night watching the New England stations coverage of the postgame, McDaniels was reportedly ditching the Indy job like a Tinder date. But earlier today the Colts made it official. I wrote this afternoon about the risk he was taking, accepting his second – meaning LAST – head coaching opportunity to work for a crazy, substance-abusing owner and with Andrew Luck’s health situation totally unclear. But once the official announcement is made by the team on their official Twitter account, you just assume it’s chiseled in stone. But these days, nothing is chiseled in stone.

So does this mean the Patriots simply continue on with the McOffense that produced a record number of yards in the Super Bowl? Or that Bill Belichick is dunzo and handing the job to his closest friend on the staff in the way Bill Parcells didn’t hand it to him with the Giants in 1991? Maybe it has nothing to do with Belichick’s future and maybe it has everything to do with it. I haven’t the slightest goddamned clue. I don’t know anything any more. Other than the Patriots can’t go an hour without being the center of the news cycle.

And that they just porked the Indianapolis Colts like no franchise has ever porked another. The revenge of Deflatgate is complete. Coach STAYS!
