Chez Reavie Makes A 72nd Hole Birdie Bomb To Force A Playoff At The Waste Management Phoenix Open... Promptly Loses Playoff

Pretty awesome stuff, Chez Reavie bogeys the 16th in Scottsdale, getting boo’ed to the moon and fall 2 strokes back, then birdies the 17th and 18th to force a playoff with Gary Woodland. Full disclosure, I had the “Gary Woodland wins” blog all set, mouse hovering over the publish button, Uber ordered to head to do some Super Bowl viewing. But free golf is free golf and I’m here for all of the clutch golf drama anybody wants to throw at us. Especially at golf’s loudest event.

Playoff time, let’s do this.

UPDATE: He lost.

And here is the Gary Woodland blog…

Gary Woodland notched his first Tour win since 2013 today at the Waste Management. He did it with a final round 7-under 64 while a lot of our big name leaders shit the bed. Rickie was over par today, as was Jon Rahm despite this outrageously early walk on this birdie look.

Phil struggled to get much going until the final stretch, delivering this on 16…

…and a birdie on 17 before ultimately coming up short with a double on 18.

A LOT of paint on this Woodland card.

Feels right that the winner should birdie the 16th, which he did.

Trent and I were out there from 5:30 AM yesterday until about 7:30 PM. We’ll have a full breakdown of what it was like (hint: it was awesome) on the podcast this week.

Football time.
