2018 Barstool Bracketology: Version 3

It’s about that time where people start looking at bracketology and try to figure out where their team will be slotted. This is especially true with the release of the top-16 show on February 11 so we’ll at least have an idea where teams are slotted at that time. For the time being, I’m going to continue to put out my bracketology and try to take a guess at what we’ll see as we approach March. I’ll be releasing mine every Sunday because, well, why not?

After a week of more upsets and teams trying their best to not move up seedlines I present my third version of bracketology this year:

As I talked about there were a bunch of upsets, so it made it quite difficult trying to figure out exactly where to seed some teams. For instance what do you do with Kentucky or West Virginia – do we really know just how good either of these teams are? What about a team like Auburn who has an average nonconference but keeps racking up wins in the SEC? The only thing I felt confident about were the four No. 1 seeds as they are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the group.

I value road or neutral court wins and use different sources as to where I rank teams. I look at KenPom, RPI, team sheets and then my own rankings because it’s my bracketology damnit. This is trying to predict what I think the committee will do as well. As you can see there are some additions to the bracket this week with a team like NC State getting in now after the road win vs UNC.

I know there will be some debate, but it was tough to figure out what to do with teams like Arizona, Texas Tech, Ohio State and most of the Big 12. So I’m sure people will be upset, just remember I hate your team and always cheer for your rival. So what do you agree/disagree with? Let me know @barstoolreags.
