The ESPN Internal Memo is Real. Let's Hope the Report is More Fake News

Storm coming

By now you’ve no doubt read KFC’s and Feitelberg’s posts about the ESPN hit piece that is coming in the morning. I can confirm that the internal memo is real. What I can’t confirm is that there is a subatomic particle of truth to it.

Consider the source. ESPN has made it their company mission statement to say that everything about the Patriots is wrong. Is a fraud. That they are a dysfunctional family, at war with one another and a poison environment of cheaters, liars and egomaniacs. The author of this one is Seth Wickersham. The same Seth Wickersham who co-authored the hatchet job in ESPN the Mag about all the Patriots cheating that just happen to drop one day after Brady won a huge court victory. That entire article was a steaming pile of easily refutable horseshit. So you’ll have to excuse everyone in America’s Upper Right Hand Corner if we refuse to believe anyone in the Patriots organization would reach out to this lying house boy to Roger Goodell to spill dirt on anyone else. Why do a favor to someone who tried to discredit everything you’ve ever accomplished? It makes less than zero sense.

But that’s not saying there’s nothing to this. We’ll wait and see. What I do know is that the whole world will swallow it hook, line and sinker. Because they want to believe it. It’s the same Confirmation Bias that drove everyone to believe the other hundred or so fake scandals and reports of internal strife inside the most successful organization in all of sports.

What I do know – and hope – is that tomorrow morning’s bomb will cause everyone in the organization to do what they’ve always done when the universe was against them: Band together. Form ranks. Point their spears outward. And understand that everyone and everything is against them and use that to their advantage.

Tonight we are all Patriots. No days off. Roger that. Pink stripes. 28-3. Let’s gooooo!
