2 Minute Memorial Dab Held For Youngster Who Died In England

BBC – Hundreds of people have taken part in a two-minute “dab” in honour of a six-year-old boy who died before Christmas.

Daniel Harris, who loved the popular dance move, died unexpectedly in his sleep on 23 December.

Friends and family gathered in his home village of Fernwood, in Newark, Nottinghamshire, to remember him and show their support.

“But I think Daniel will be looking down on us and I’m sure he’s up there dabbing with us.”

People like to make fun of the dab, but if it’s helping a community heal after a kid died, then so be it. It stopped being cool as in rappers-drinking-lean-at-the-club cool, but in this case is cool in a look-at-how-this-community-came-together-to-make-a-positive-memory way. It’s bizarre to see a bunch of British 6-year-olds and parents doing two minute long dabs as a memorial, but it’s cool in a way.

Since the initial communal dab, the hashtag #DabForDaniel has been picking up steam all over the world.

The last picture is from the Nottingham Panthers, which I now know is a hockey club in England. I didn’t realize they had panthers, hockey or hockey fans in England, but it seems that they all exist.

We might not be giving England enough credit, cause these are some smooth motherfuckers. Good think Prince Harry is off the market because mandem killed the dab.

The #Dab4Daniel campaign is ultimately linked to a charity fund for his mum, which has only raised some $2,500 by now, which is a little low considering how many people I just saw dabbing. Unfortunately, some people might just be taking advantage of the hashtag to pop their tops off and take shirtless pics with their tennis bros.
