Tiny Bristol City Beat Manchester United With A Last-Minute Goal And The Scenes Afterwards Are Awesome

Nothing better than a giant killing in the League Cup or FA cup. Bristol City hosted Manchester United yesterday in the League Cup quarterfinal at Ashton Gate and played out of their minds. The first goal by Joe Bryan was stunning:

Zlatan equalized for United with a free kick 7 minutes later, and it looked like United would probably pull away. But Bristol held on and then some, with quality chances through the second half. And finally, 3 minutes into stoppage time, Korey Smith scored a goal that will be remembered by Bristol fans for years to come. Just incredible. You’ve got the Bristol manager swinging the ball boy around like Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in La La Land; fans storming the field and hugging and kissing the players; grown men weeping.

The average Bristol City player’s salary is around $415,000 a year. The average Man Utd player’s salary is just over $18,000,000 a year. That’s like the difference between the money I made for mowing the lawn when I was 10 years old ($5) to the money I make now when I take elderly widowers and divorcees out to dinner before sleeping with them ($2,000-$5,000 depending on tip).

Now on to the semifinals where they’ll play Man City, who haven’t lost a game since the dawn of time…
