I Already Hate The Non-Existent NHL Team In Seattle

So some big news yesterday but not exactly surprising news at all. The city of Seattle approved the Key Arena plan that will most likely be used to host an NBA team, an NHL team and who knows, maybe even an NLL team all within a couple of years. Seattle has been in line to get an NHL franchise for a while now and everybody expected them to be the 2nd city announced with Las Vegas getting an expansion team to bring the league to 31 total teams. That never ended up happening since Seattle city council rejected a plan for a new arena back in May 2016. So the NHL will be stuck with an odd number of teams until at least 2020-21 when the Key Arena is ready to go. But from what it sounds like, a new franchise will be announced for Seattle sooner than later and I’d bank on that being an expansion franchise to even the league out at 32 instead of a relocation. If there’s going to be relocation in the NHL I’d say Quebec City and Houston would be the next options. But Seattle should be expansion.

Anyway, that’s great news and everything…. until you realize this fanbase is going to immediately become the most insufferable fanbase in the entire league. You thought the crowd in Nashville was getting too full of themselves during the Preds’ playoff run last year? Buddy, just you wait until the Seattle team makes it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time. I can already picture it now. A 10-minute segment on NBCSN with Jeremy Roenick chuckin’ some salmon and talking about how great the fans in Seattle are at screaming really loud. “The 7th man”. About how this is the newest team in the league but Seattle is already “such a hard place to play in for opposing teams”. Frig off, ya bozos. Yelling the loudest doesn’t make you great fans. It just makes you a bunch of assholes. It also makes you incredibly insensitive to the mute community. But all people ever talk about when it comes to Seattle sports is the noise. They obsess over it. I could do my best to ignore the fanbase when they aren’t ruining the NHL. But now that it looks like that’ll change within the next couple of years, it’s time to start building up my hatred for all things Seattle. You jackasses have yelling, coffee, and rain. That doesn’t make you special.
