Congratulations To Detroit, Who Finally Figured Out How To Flatten The Old Pontiac Silverdome

So I saw this last week and didn’t want to say anything because I felt bad. I’m not about kicking a city when it’s down. Especially when it’s been down for fifty years. But it is funny how on-brand it is for Detroit. They can’t even ruin their own ruins. They’ve been in a rut for so long that Cleveland takes jabs at them. Their main attraction is the shop where the History Channel films Hardcore Pawn. Detroit sucks so bad that you can get a house for the price of a VCR. But again, I’m not about kicking a city when it’s down.  Here’s the video of the successful blast.

Now all they have to do is implode the rest of the city and people will finally start visiting. Sometimes it’s best to cut your losses and start over.

Having said that, there’s a good chance the implosion was botched on purpose so they could milk it for another paycheck. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. You gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully they open the site to the city’s copper scrapper community so someone can make a few bucks off of it. Otherwise it’s just going to be another useless eyesore.
