Geno Smith Called Rex Ryan A Coward Because Rex Said He Wouldn't Want Geno As His QB

Look at the starting quarterback of the New York Giants feeling himself now that he’s number 1 on the depth chart! THAT’S how you grudge. People cared what Geno Smith had to say about something for the first time in years and he found a way to settle an old score. They call that one the Sam Ponder in the grudge business. I will admit I’ve never been the biggest Geno Smith fan in the world, but you have to respect anybody that can deflect a question about his coach sitting directly on the hot seat by taking a shot directly at his old coach’s neck.

Geno is playing the New York media against themselves like a goddamn puppet master. How do you avoid putting Geno calling Rex Ryan a coward on one either your paper’s front page or back page? You can’t. And once you do that, there is less real estate to plug the countless “Fire McAdoo” stories that are inside. Dance for Eugene Cyril Smith III, tabloids!

Now I’m sure the Maras and the Tisches don’t love getting old Jets mud all over their franchise. But that’s what happens when you bring in old Jets that lived in the mud for years across town MetLife. Suddenly 1,000 Eli cliches with an “awww shucks” demeanor after a loss don’t seem so bad to the front office. Instead Geno is out here talking like a guy who is definitely not afraid of having his jaw broken again.

Don’t get me wrong though, I love it. I hope this season turns into complete chaos for Big Blue. I also need to hear Rex’s response to all this. “Coward” is probably the worst C-word you can call somebody in the Ryan household and Rex will be more than happy to get muddy again. Rob Ryan is probably walking to New York as I type this with brass knuckles and one of those old metal garbage cans for a Hardcore Rules only fight. And if Buddy was still alive, he would definitely go Old(est) Man Mandelbaum and try to finish the job IK Enemkpaliin started on principle alone.

If this season is going to go off the rails (which is already has), let it go off the rails in spectacular fashion. The Maras truly deserve it.
