Congrats To Men Everywhere As Women-Only Club Raises $32 Million In Funding

Business InsiderWhen The Wing, a coworking space and social club for women, launched in October 2016, founders Audrey Gelman and Lauren Kassan didn’t realize how large the demand for membership would be or exactly the type of comfort it would provide its members. In the months before the 2016 presidential election, Gelman, who has experience working in politics, said she believed Hillary Clinton would win.

“This was going to be the golden age of women in power, so women could have rooms like this,” she told Business Insider. “It was sort of a triumphant concept. Obviously that’s not what happened.”

Overnight, after Donald Trump’s victory, The Wing was inundated with calls from members and people on the waitlist, who, according to Kassan, were saying, “I didn’t realize how much I wanted or needed a space like this.”

Now, the club has 1,500 members and an 8,000-person waiting list for its two open locations. It plans to launch two more spaces, one in Brooklyn and one in Washington, DC.

It just raised $32 million in a Series B funding round led by WeWork, bringing its total investment to $42 million, according to Forbes. NEA also contributed to the funding round.

Live look at men across the globe.

There’s nothing better as a guy than when your girl has somewhere or something to go to without you and you just get left the fuck alone for an extended period of time. You can do whatever the hell you want. You can sit on the couch, you can jerk off, you can order food, drink, take a 2-hour shower, meet the boys for a beer, play xbox, play a round of golf, lay alone in bed silently staring at the ceiling soaking up every possible second of your precious left-aloneness. It’s great. It rules. I’m a single guy currently so I get this all the time to the point it’s actually sort of sad but I’ve been in a few longterm relationships and left-aloneness is to be deeply cherished.

Typically you gotta wait for a bachelorette party or a girls night out following a horrific breakup of one of her friends which you actively root for but now you’re telling me they’ve got a damn club we’re not allowed to go to!? LET’S. FUCKING. GOOOOOOOOOOO!

Huge win for men everywhere. Can I invest in this shit? I actually don’t even want anything in return. I don’t need ownership I genuinely just want to financially ensure this thing  succeeds. What do they call that a donation? Can I donate to The Wing? Fucking LOVE The Wing.
