Dogs Gets Cleared Of Attacking A Cyclist After It's Determined The Dog Is Too Fat To Attack Anyone

Daily Mail- An 84-year-old great-grandfather whose dog was accused of mauling a cyclist has been cleared after it was deemed too fat to harm anyone. Retired company manager Francis Thorley was walking his Alaskan Malamute Mishka off her lead in a park when he got caught up in an altercation with another dog walker, who was out on her tricycle. Andrea Ostholt who was with her terrier cross Woody in Chorlton Park in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester claimed 11-year-old Mishka, who weighs 7st 8lb, came running towards her snarling and bearing its teeth. She said she got off her tricycle to protect her own dog but was bitten by Mishka, leaving her with a wound to the back of her right calf. Mr Thorley, of Chorlton, stood trial at Manchester Magistrates Court for having a dangerous dog out of control but was cleared after he said Mishka – a rescue dog – was deemed ‘morbidly obese’ by vets and walked too slowly to be able to bite anyone.

Score one for morbid obesity! You don’t see that every day. You think our guy Tex was due for a W? Well morbid obesity was the most due for a W. This is likely morbid obesity’s first W ever actually. Tough to find a situation where morbid obesity comes out looking like a saving grace. but here we are. People like Michelle Obama are alway preaching that obesity is going to cripple America’s youth and blah blah blah. Get outside and excursive for 60 minutes a day blah blah blah. Well if this Alaskan Malamute had listened to Michelle (not sure her program is aimed towards fat dogs but stay with me) he’d likely be on the fast track to the electric chair. Not anymore. Too fat says the judge! If the dog isn’t fit, you must acquit.

I don’t want to pile on cyclists cause they are a rabid group and I don’t want those problems but this is a tough L to take. Seemed like an open and shut case. Cyclist gets attack by dog, dog was on the scene, done and done. Nope. Cyclists can’t do anything right.
