Russian Tiger Mauls Zookeeper But Is NOT Ready For Primetime

This is the horrifying moment a Siberian tiger attacked a young female zookeeper in full view of visitors. The big cat, called Typhoon, sprang on the keeper at Kaliningrad Zoo, in Russia, after its cage was accidentally left open while she brought food to the animal. But her life was saved as shocked onlookers shouted and threw stones at tiger until it backed away. Some men even lifted a table and chairs from a nearby cafe, hurling them over the fence to distract the predator so the keeper could escape.

Its a tale as old as time.  Humans enclose a man eating creature and eventually the person taking care of it accidentally exposes themselves to the reality that the animal doesn’t see them as anything more than edible flesh to sustain itself for 48-72 hours.  Zookeeper goes in, someone forgets to chain up Typhoon the Tiger, and boom.  We got a mauling on our hands.  Nothing too notable.  The real story here is the fact that this zookeeper chick LIVED due to the Tiger being distracted by onlookers!

When you’re an enormous apex predator that’s been caged for its entire life and get the chance to kill the people that are keeping you in captivity, you just HAVE to finish the job.  This thing got distracted by people shouting at it and throwing rocks at it?  Are you serious Typhoon?  You’re name is Typhoon for god’s sake.  Imagine a Typhoon halting its torrential rainfall and 200 MPH winds because people were screaming at it?  Be better man.  Say what you want about Sidney Crosby but the guy walks into opposing arenas where the entire crowd wants to kill him and taxidermy him with a pacifier in his mouth and still produces at a Hall of Fame rate.  Its about producing under pressure.

Typhoon really needs to learn a lesson here, although being 16 years old already, its tough to imagine him getting a better opportunity than this.  Some prospects just don’t pan out and I really hope this isn’t the case here for Kaliningrad’s #1 Big Cat.  Stay focused Typhoon!
