Who Would You Put In Your Perfect Rock N' Roll Supergroup?

*I’m gonna put a little author’s note at the beginning of this blog and say that I don’t write much about music, because I don’t really know what approach to take, but I’d like to do it more, so let me know what you’d be into by tweeting me @RobbieBarstool. Thanks!

As I think many of you know, I grew up on a lot of classic rock and “hair metal”. I fucking hate the term “hair metal” because I think it takes away from some of the legit musicians in the genre but we’re not gonna go down that rabbit hole here. We’re just going to discuss an age-old hypothetical my brother and I have gone back and forth on since I was wearin’ diapers.

If you could select four rockstars, alive or dead, to be in a supergroup, who are your picks? The only rule is that you can’t pick two people in the same band, because if you could, you’d probably just re-assemble Zeppelin or The Beatles something. For me, it’s a fairly easy question. I put John Bonham on drums, Flea on bass, Slash on guitar, and Freddie Mercury on vocals.

This combo just fascinates the living shit out of me, because I think the typical dynamic of the drums/bass sticking together in the rhythm section is thrown out the window. Bonzo was known to follow Jimmy Page on a lot of his work, and Flea echoes Anthony Kiedis’ voice on certain songs (this video points that out on the chorus of Hump de Bump). So the thought of Bonham hitting wild triplets backing Slash’s bluesy solos while Flea is echoing the twenty seven thousand octaves in Mercury’s vocal range gives me wet dreams like you read about.

My brother’s four, if you were curious, is Tommy Lee on drums, Gene Simmons on bass, Slash on guitar, and Prince on vocals. Now I’m throwing the question to you guys. I wanna hear who you’ve got in your ideal supergroup! Tweet me your combos!
