Britons Are Pissed After An Inmate Used Her "Day Release" To Play The Old Course

Golf.comA woman on a “day release” from prison in the U.K. posted to social media about her travels to St. Andrews and a round on the Old Course, provoking an angry public response regarding taxpayer-funded leisure time for inmates…

Some Britons weren’t happy about [Donna] Mackay’s public golf boast, including one conservative politician.

“This woman’s trial would have cost the taxpayer an absolute fortune but people may have felt there was some justice at the end of it,” she said. “But now we see she is enjoying all the privileges of freedom and using social media to let everyone know about it. There should be an inquiry into this immediately as the public will want to see why in this case it appears that crime does pay.”

Hey Donna you go girl. One day you’re in the slammer, next day you’re strolling around the Old Course, next day you’re back in the slammer. Love it, what a move. Legendary status. I started to wonder what Donna was in for and how that would affect my feelings on this move and then realized that I don’t care. I honestly don’t care. If the rules state you get one day of freedom, and you take that day straight up to the home of golf, well played in my book. Could be drugs, could be theft, could be murder. If you killed someone, got caught, got sentenced, and still found a way onto the Old Course, well then you’re a golf girl for life. You’re committed. I see your guys with “GLFSZN” license plates and I raise you a convicted, locked up felon getting onto the Old Course.

Sort of a wake up call to the rest of you no? If Donna Danger here can get on, you have no excuse not to play the Old Course.

PS — Turns out she was in for tax fraud. A real shyster, of course she finagled her way onto the Old Course.
