Seth MacFarlane Says His Oscars 2013 Jab At Harvey Weinstein Came From A Place Of Anger

Pretty shocking how deep this goes. How many lives, directly and indirectly, Harvey Weinstein tormented by abusing his power to satisfy his own fucked up sexual impulses. A scumbag to the millionth degree. He scarred many women forever. He put people in impossible positions, and he knew it.

Jessica Barth is clearly and unfortunately just one of many.

BIBarth told The New Yorker that Weinstein invited her to a “business meeting” at the Peninsula hotel in 2011, where he “alternated between offering to cast her in a film and demanding a naked massage in bed.”

For anyone going after Seth MacFarlane, you’re an idiot.

It’s also becoming pretty clear that Weinstein’s POS-ness was a pretty known rumor around Hollywood circles. He was so powerful, he was able to control it until now.

NBC News is under intense fire for killing the story. It’s a fascinating dive if you’re got some time.

CNN’s own Anthony Bourdain, and others, has gone after Hillary Clinton for claiming she was shocked or appalled to learn of Weinstein’s actions.

Bourdain’s girlfriend Asia Argento claimed Weinstein forced oral sex on her in 1997.

Obviously this is a dark, shitty story. I don’t want to spend all day on it. That’s not what ya’ll come here for, but it’s an important story. I believe the more attention this gets, and the more knowledge of details on how it was able to continue, will help uproot this systemic pattern of power abuse found in many, many, many circles.

Harvey Weinstein is the one to blame. He is the scumbag. He is the piece of shit. But his power and the way it trickled its way into decisions others made is important to reaching the understanding needed in order to expose and prevent other similar cases going forward.

Fuck Harvey Weinstein.
