Diddy Was Forbes Highest Earning Hip-Hop Artist Of 2017 And It Wasn't Even Close

Source - Forbes to ranked the highest-paid figures in hip-hop, and for this year’s highest-paid hip-hop artists list, Diddy continues his streak at the top. Diddy tops the list with $130 million, and although he hasn’t released any new music in the past year, he did launch his Bad Boy Records reunion tour in 2016 — as well as selling a portion of his Sean Jean clothing company, which earned the mogul an estimated $70 million.

“I’ve always understood that if I give the customers my best and service them differently, whether music, clothing or vodka, I’ll get a return on my hard work,” Combs told Forbes. He also notched the No. 1 slot on Forbes’ wealthiest hip-hop artists of 2017 list earlier this year.

I guess once you get to a certain point your money makes you money. Diddy’s worth around $810 million. Assuming he keeps his money in a campus edge checking account, he made about sixteen million this year just for sitting on his ass. Which is a fraction of his reported earnings.

So where did the other one-hundred-fourteen million come from? Your guess is as good as mine but $70 came from a t-shirt I bought at the Bad Boy Reunion concert. And according to Forbes another seventy million came from the sale of his velour sweat suit line Sean Jean. Not sure where the rest came from, Ciroc? Aqua Hydrate? I don’t know.

Regardless, of all the Forbes highest paid lists, “hip hop artists” is by far my favorite. Mostly because unlike the billionaires list, you can watch them spend their money. Just hop on Instagram and you’ll see cars, boats, jewels, thots.

The occasional fuck you tweet.

Not only that, the list is ever-changing. Sure, there are the Diddy’s and the Dre’s but then you got guys like Lil Yachty and Future. Two dudes who were nobodies a few years ago and now they’re brushing arms with the big dogs. Speaking of big dogs, Snoop made the list despite having been in a weed-coma for the past ten five years.

(He doesn’t like Future)

So did Swizz Beatz and Wiz Kalifa.  Most of the list consists of people who haven’t made music in years. They should change the name of it to “Biggest Bawse in hip-hop.” It’ll be interesting to see who makes the list next year. Until then we’ll just have to suffer through the boring billionaires.
