In A New Low, Johnny Football Has Been Banned From Playing In The CFL

ProFootballTalk - Earlier this month, the CFL extended a 10-day window for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to sign quarterback Johnny Manziel in order to “facilitate a process of evaluation for the player.”

That window has been extended through the end of November, but any contract Manziel signs will not be for the 2017 season. The CFL released a statement announcing Commissioner Randy Ambrosie’s decision that the league will not register a contract for Manziel this year.

“After an extensive process of due diligence and an in-person meeting with Mr. Manziel, the Commissioner has decided that he will not register any contract for Mr. Manziel for this season. However, Mr. Manziel will be eligible to sign a contract for the 2018 season and, if Mr. Manziel meets certain conditions that have been spelled out by the Commissioner, the CFL will register that contract. The specifics of those conditions are confidential and will not be disclosed. The CFL has extended the stay on the expiry of the 10-day window for Mr. Manziel until Nov. 30, 2017 and therefore Mr. Manziel will remain on Hamilton’s negotiation list until that date.”

Quick update on our old pal Johnny “Johnny Football” Football: Not great! The commissioner of the CFL literally will not allow him to play for any team. The language is so direct too: The Commissioner has decided that he will not register any contract for Mr. Manziel for this season.” Harsh!

I don’t know if it gets worse than that. That’d be like a Mexican hockey league not allowing a former NHL’er to lace them up south of the border. We’re not talking about a real league here, we’re talking about the CFL. They let anyone play up there! If you played high school ball in Texas, you’re pretty much guaranteed a try out with the Toronto Argonauts, or the Edmonton Eskimos at the very worst. But despite that, Johnny Football still can’t get a whiff of a contract up there. We’re talking about Texas A&M superstar, Heisman Trophy winner, former first round pick Johnny Manziel. And why? Well if you remember, he was brought up to be evaluated, and they said he wasn’t physically or mentally able to play.

Just something is off in his brain. I’ve written multiple blogs about it, but this guy just isn’t all there anymore. His crew kept him going down the path to ruin, using him and enabling him until he looked like this

And meanwhile he didn’t take a single lick of personal responsibility, spiraling his way out of the league and into obscurity. And now, ban hammered from the CFL. Dude needs to figure it out, because I don’t know what happens next but I can assure you it can’t be good.
