Russian Burger Kings Are Demanding That "IT" Be Banned In Russia Because Pennywise Looks Like Ronald McDonald

c

THR- Burger King’s Russian division has filed a complaint with the country’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS), demanding that the movie It be banned in the country. The company claimed that the movie’s clown character Pennywise looks like Ronald McDonald and therefore works as an advertisement for the rival fast-food brand. A spokeswoman for the FAS confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Burger King’s complaint has been received and is being evaluated. “We can’t be concerned with the content of the film because the writer and director have their own creative understanding of any character,” she said, adding that the agency would have to determine though whether the movie contains advertising or product placement.

Look at the Burger Kings in Russia trying to throw their winning lottery ticket into the garbage for no reason at all. Just an absolute Jimbo. Anybody that had a childhood knows how terrifying clowns can be. The more the mascot of your biggest competitor looks like a child-eating, murderous movie villain, the better. All you need is one kid to stumble upon this gif on the internet or whatever they have over in Russia and kids are immediately going to be scared of Fat Ron, Mickey D’s, and all things clown-related.

I don’t care if they are giving away iPads with Happy Meals. No kid is going to want to go within 1000 miles of a McDonald’s if they become scared of clowns. You know why? Because kids are fucking cowards. Not an ounce of bravery in the lot. They won’t try new foods, are scared of the dark, and believe in the motherfucking boogeyman. And if kids aren’t going to McDonald’s, that means neither are their parents because nobody wants to be that person that stops at two fast food places. As someone that has done that move in the past, you lose a part of your soul every time you do it. And once you start going to different fast food joints, you develop some loyalty. Which is why Burger King should thank God that the biggest horror movie is a clown. Then again, maybe we shouldn’t be so surprised since this is the same company that willfully stopped the incredible King commercials back in the day.

And just because I am down a King rabbit hole, I’m still not sure if I loved or hated the Mayne Event with The King.
