These Celebs All Using The Emmys To Take Digs At Trump Is The Lamest Shit Ever
Am I the only one who thinks these celebs all sitting around jerking each other off over their Trump digs is lame as shit? So petty and overdone. They do this at every awards show now. It’s like a comedian taking the stage and hammering home airplane jokes. Sweet dude. We’ve heard it all before. We get it — you guys hate Trump so here you are all huddled up in your literal echo chamber sucking each other’s cocks and laughing at each other’s shared disdain for Trump. You could actually hear the exhaustion in each laugh, Trump dig after Trump dig. The whole thing felt like a collectively lazy effort at topical humor. Obligatory laugh city. It was, no joke, actually sad!
What’s weird is they seem to hate him for exactly what they are. Donnie got where he is by inheriting an advantageous financial situation, becoming a SUPER SUCCESSFUL attention-seeking TV star, then channeling that attention into political popularity. And this ENTIRE event quite literally exists to drive attention to who and what these celebs feel deserves the most attention. It’s crazy. It’s like some weird attention inception event and the celebs are rallying around a common enemy because that enemy leveraged attention most successfully to reach its maximum power. I take digs at Donnie from time to time too, but I take digs at every political thing there is; it’s my job to take what the “stick to sports” crowd says and carry out the exact opposite.
And at the end of the day, this whole saga only helps Trump. His base only mobilizes more passionately from the sight of the rich and famous dressed to the nines patting each other on the back for their jokes at the President’s expense. I’ll be stunned if Trump doesn’t use these clips to fortify the narrative in 2020 that the rich and famous club hates him, therefore he must be for the working class. Yes that’s bizarro world but it works. It just worked in 2016.
Watching the mainstream media’s coverage of this is wild. It’s almost like they have NO IDEA that Middle America will be sitting around barstools for the next several weeks, as clips from the Emmys replay, saying over and over to each other, “fuck these celebs, this is why Trump’s our guy.”
