Teddy Atlas May Die Of Apparent Boxing Corruption

(I think that last clip is old but I guarantee you Teddy would say he feels the same way tonight)

Teddy Atlas is NOT HERE for the apparent corruption of boxing. Well, I shouldn’t say “apparent” because boxing is very obviously corrupt, but I don’t think corruption was on display tonight. Teddy does, and had to scream at college graduate Stephen A Smith about how the administrators of the sport are ruining his life. His mind went to some crazy places, saying the issue is that “there’s no wolf guarding the door” for boxers, but the passion behind his rant was so contagious. I wish there was one guy running all of boxing so we could clown face his ass.

Teddy just fucking loves the sweet science. Nobody on planet earth loves the sweet science as much as him, and he’s disgusted that people that have never taken a punch in their life have the right to judge it/talk about it. Oops!

As for the Canelo/GGG fight itself, I can tell you right now that you probably won’t like my opinion on it. Chief is a huge boxing guy who’s blogged a bit of the lead up, so I told him to take the post fight blog, but my scorecard was so controversial on Twitter that I should probably address it here. I scored the fight a 114-114 DRAW, giving Canelo rounds 2, 3, 6, 9, 10, and 12. I didn’t factor in Golovkin’s ring control as much as most while Canelo was landing the harder shots, and can completely understand those scoring the fight for GGG OR Canelo. It was so back and forth, and so shot-for-shot that if you had one fighter or the other up 2 or 3 rounds at the final bell, I wouldn’t put up an argument! I would argue with every idiot claiming this was a downright robbery, because any fight as close as this one is incapable of having someone “robbed”. Both sides are throwing around that R word way too leniently.

Adelaide Byrd’s scorecard having Canelo up 118-110 is one of the worst scorecards of all time though, I’ll give you that. Let’s throw her in prison and never allow her to score a fight ever again. Everything considered, I think this was a GOOD night for boxing, and I’m all in for Canelo/GGG II. As are you, and everyone else who watched the phenomenal fight tonight.

UFC flew under the radar with a great free card as well, and I’ll have a full blog on that tomorrow. Here’s a taste:
