Jesus, buddy. This is just depressing. Nobody has ever wanted to not be somewhere more than Matt Duchene doesn’t want to be in Colorado right now. Like when your girl asks you to go out to lunch with her parents at 1pm on a Sunday right before kickoff. Only Matt Duchene is probably even more miserable than that right now. And like I’ve said plenty of times before–you can’t blame the guy. He’s been on the trade block for at least a year and a half so far. He’s constantly rumored to be on the move. Imagine living that life. Where every single day you wake up and you’re not sure if this is the day you have to pick up and move across the country. The guy can’t do anything right now because he has no idea how many days he has left in Colorado. Honestly it’s fucking bullshit. Joe Sakic might be the biggest piece of shit in the league right now for what he’s doing to Matt Duchene. Either trade the guy right now or swear on your dick that he’s staying around until his contract is up. The fact that he has to put up with this shit and still show up to work every day is ridiculous. Which is credit to Duchene for being a good teammate and still showing up to training camp on time.
But at some point you’d imagine having him in the locker room any longer is just going to continue to be a distraction. These guys aren’t idiots. It’s not like they don’t have phones or read the news or anything like that. They all obviously know about Duchene’s situation. The longer he’s there, the more awkward it gets. Which you’d think would get Joe Sakic to lower his asking price a little bit but turns out the only thing bigger than his asking price is his ego. Hopefully the fact that Duchene didn’t have an ‘A’ on his sweater in this headshot means that a move is coming soon. But with how incompetent Sakic has seemed so far, it’s doubtful. So in the meantime, the Colorado Avalanche are a shit show. But we all already knew that.
