What Are The Best YouTube Rabbit Holes To Fall Down?

The other night I was laying down in bed before going to sleep, watching some YouTube videos. Which videos, you ask? I have no fucking idea. Couldn’t tell ya. Why? Because before I knew it, I was hysterically crying to Simon Cowell hitting the Golden Buzzer over and over again on America’s Got Talent. Couldn’t stop. If I saw “TRY NOT TO CRY” or “EMOTIONAL” in the thumbnail, I was clicking, and I was crying. Something about Simon’s cold heart warming up for children singing and dancing paired with the slow motion shots of families hugging after realizing their life had just changed made for waterworks in the Fox household, and this went on for like 3 hours. See some for yourself…

Eventually I snapped out of it, but took a step back and thought, “This has happened before. How do I keep letting this happen?”, and it’s to the fault of YouTube and their dreaded “Related Videos” section. It’s complete bait to hook you and pull you down various rabbit holes that take hours, and sometimes days, to remove yourself from. I’m here to talk about the best rabbit holes to fall down today.

Top Ten Videos

Don’t give a shit what the topic is, everyone can relate to tripping on the “Top Ten” headline and disagreeing with the video creator’s picks, but double and triple dipping on their channel for mental reassurance that if YOU created the list, it’d be much better. Personal favorites include Top 10 UFC Knockouts*, Top 10 WWE Crowd Pops, Top 10 NHL Hits (or shootout goals), and anything Top 10 Rock N Roll.

*UFC videos get bonus points if they’re set to “Let The Bodies Hit The Floor” or “Face The Pain”

Fail Videos

You wanna talk rabbit holes? Fail videos are massive sinkholes in the earth. FailArmy has a monopoly on the market and has since YouTube started. They’re still cranking out a few per week that make me laugh out loud constantly. Nothing like seeing idiots think they can do a wheelie on a bike and then crashing said bike. Half of these videos have boobs in the thumbnail that aren’t in the video, by the way.

Street Magic Videos

Criss Angel: Mindfreak aired it’s final episode seven years ago, and David Blaine hasn’t been seen publicly since he failed at holding his breath for like an hour, but their shows will live on in clip-form long after we’re all dead. I’ll never get tired of watching a card trick done in the hood where all of the bystanders react by sprinting away from the magician as fast as they can. These ones are also great because a month goes by and you completely forget everything about them. That’s the real magic trick.

They also lead you down a whole different path at some point…

How-To Magic Videos

Once you’ve seen a couple of these, you could basically sign a residency in Las Vegas.

Doesn’t even matter if you don’t get a huge deal right away, because you could make up the money by counting cards.

News Bloopers

There’s few things I love more than an awkward old newscaster trying to report on a mundane topic and accidentally saying “cock” or “fuck”.

Soldiers Coming Home

The #1 pound-for-pound undefeated king of rabbit holes, soldiers coming home. It’s NOT. EVEN. CLOSE. I fist pump that shit and chant U-S-A every time the soldier embraces his family, and there’s not enough tissues in the world for the flow of tears these videos provide.
