Pedro Martinez Could Still Be A Starter For The Red Sox No Problem At All
Maybe I’m letting sentimentality get the better of me here. Maybe this is like when you see your high school ex at a bar, realize she’s still looking good, and think, “Hey, we can definitely still make this work,” before realizing in two weeks that, that was a horrible idea. But I don’t think I’m all that crazy here. I think Pedro looked fucking good out there.
I’m not gonna break down mechanics or anything like that, I’m no nerd, I’m just gonna tell you what my gut says watching these highlights and it’s screaming, “LOOK AT FUCKING PEDRO! Also, is it too early to order a pizza?” The guy just has it on the mound. He gets on the bump and looks every bit the part of a major league ballplayer. Pedro even said it himself, he got his command back very quickly. In two innings he was painting corners so imagine what could be if we get him on a throwing program right now? Pedro Martinez, World Series game 1 starter, that’s what could be. Yeah, even ahead of Sale. Sky’s the limit.
Sure his swing needs a little work and that could be a liability come the games in LA, but when Pedro is out there dealing eight shutout innings I think the fielders can pick up some of that slack, don’t you? Call me a lunatic if you want, call me foolhardy, but I don’t think it’s the craziest thing in the world. Bring Pedro back for the late season push and give love a chance.
