Source - Appearing on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire program, professional nutritionist Sophie said she would never recommend her patients follow a vegan diet. Her comments have angered many.
Couldn’t have said it better myself, Will! The only thing I can attribute the backlash to is hangry-ness. If I was living off beat roots and kale I’d lash out too. It must be exhausting explaining your “lifestyle” to uneducateds on an empty stomach. Not just physically but mentally. Defending your food choices, recruiting new members, Instagraming your meals. The list goes on and on.
I’ll never understand how people flat up deny science. Call me crazy, but if someone dedicates their life to becoming an expert in a particular field, I’ll listen to what they have to say on it. Vegans are no different than flat earthers or global warming deniers or vaccine truthers. They go with their gut over their brain. No skin off my back. If you want to slowly waste away due to an irrational fear of meats and cheeses what do I care?
Leave it to twitter to question a registered dietitians diet advice. I’d like to see these peoples credentials. Something tells me they aren’t as educated as the person they’re arguing with. It always kills me when people take their cause too serious. Relax, pick your battles. Arguing with a TV nutritionist over the ease at which she prepares vegan meals isn’t helping your cause. And it’s definitely not helping peoples opinions of you. Whatever, this is why vegans are some of the most insufferable people on earth.
