Can I Be Honest Real Quick? PK Subban Was Doing A Little Too Much At The ESPYs
Throughout my time here at Barstool Sports [dot] edu, I’ve made it very clear that PK Subban is one of my favorite humans alive. I’ve probably written about 50 blogs specifically on him and all 50 of them have been pro-PK. But number 51? Well let’s just say last night wasn’t his greatest performance.
Now the clip above? That’s vintage PK. Just a lovable guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously and will dick around if you want him to dick around. Would have been all well and good if that was all we saw from PK last night. But unfortunately, it wasn’t.
Here he is doing some weird “undercover cop” prank with Julian Edelman.
Buddy. You’re PK Subban. We know you’re not an undercover Boston police officer. You’re from Canada. I don’t even think they let Canadians on the force here in America. But what we see here is a classic case of the class clown gone too far. PK Subban knows that he’s everybody’s favorite jokester. But when you’re the class clown, you feel like you ALWAYS have to be the class clown. The kind of guy who doesn’t get the invite to go out to eat with the boys anymore because you ALWAYS unscrew the salt cap a little bit so the next guy to use it ends up salting the tits out of his meal. You know what I’m saying? Sometimes you can just be a regular ass guy. If you want to strike up a conversation with Julian Edelman, go up and talk to the guy. You don’t have to prank your way in there. And then there was the red carpet interview.
I’ve seen some people criticize PK Subban so far today for this comment. Saying how offensive it is to judge Lindsay Vonn strictly on her looks at an event that is meant to celebrate athletic achievement, yada yada yada, all that social justice bullshit. That’s not what I have an issue with at all. It’s just that, “if you can imagine, it’s hotter outside than Lindsay Vonn looks today. Which is pretty hot”, is just not that good of a joke. It maybe gets half a Kate Upton boob on the Rick Reilly chart. But again, this is what happens when you feel the need to always be on.
And again. I’m the biggest Subban guy out there. The man shoots faster than fuck and does some of the most charitable work out of all professional athletes. But sometimes less is more. I guess that’s the lesson for the day.
