Tom Brady Has a Practice Field at His Place in Montana

Blessed to get to do what I love for work. #fundamentals

Holy Schniekies. For the last couple of days Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola have been posting stuff from Brady’s place in Montana. Meaning Brady had a football field carved into his mountain retreat like the baseball diamond in Ray Kinsella’s cornfield. And he and his two most trusted slot receivers are working to perfect their timing a month before they have to report to camp.

During the days of my misspent youth, Larry Bird had a regulation NBA court put into his backyard in French Lick. And spent his summers doing things like shooting 500 free throws a day or teaching himself to shoot lefty. This was at the height of his powers. When he was running off a string of MVPs, had multiple rings, was holding the world by the plums and had a statue inevitably in his future. But he wasn’t satisfied. He obsessed over making himself better because the world was gunning for him. This is history repeating itself.

Or better yet, this is history repeating Rocky IV. The champion with the heart of a lion going up to the mountains to live in seclusion and will himself to get better, one log split at a time. A man with nothing to prove to anyone, but with everything to prove to himself. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn the NFL has spies following him around in

Of course you might ask why they can’t just run routes in any old field. Why they need one that’s precisely 100 x 53.3 and has the yard markers and hash marks all laid out. But that’s loser thinking. These men are not after simple improvement. They’re striving to achieve perfection. I bet Brady originally wanted to build an exact replica of Gillette up there but those bureaucrats at the zoning board would only approve this. But that’s neither here nor there.

So enjoy the beach all other quarterbacks. Good luck golfing with your buddies, other receivers. These three (and anyone else they’re practicing with I don’t know about) have work to do. No. Days. Off.
