Canadian Sniper Kills ISIS Operative From 2.2 Fucking Miles Away
The Canadian Armed Forces confirmed that a member of Joint Task Force 2 made the astonishing shot during an operation in Iraq last month, killing a soldier of the so-called Islamic State.
The official distance, verified by video footage and other data by military chiefs, registered 3,540 metres – or 2.2 miles.
It is believed that the bullet took almost 10 seconds to reach its target.
A military source told Canadian media outlet The Globe and Mail: “The shot in question actually disrupted a Daesh [Islamic State] attack on Iraqi security forces.“Instead of dropping a bomb that could potentially kill civilians in the area, it is a very precise application of force and because it was so far away, the bad guys didn’t have a clue what was happening.”
“It isn’t an opinion. It isn’t an approximation. There is a second location with eyes on with all the right equipment to capture exactly what the shot was,” another military source said.
Another admitted: “This is an incredible feat. It is a world record that might never be equalled.”
I legit dont know how this is possible. Even on a body sized target that’s completely still at that distance, I would say that there’s no chance in hell someone makes that shot. A fucking tank has the maximum effective range of just over 2.1 miles. A single shot from a sniper’s weapon at that distance hitting the target blows my mind.
I’ve talked to a few of my sniper pals and they cant believe it either. Having a round find its target from that distance is like Tiger Woods and Jordan Speith’s record at the Masters being broken by 15 strokes. It broke the longest shot on record by 33 percent at 1100 meters. Not a math scholar but that seem like a lot. Just a touch over 11 fucking football fields longer than the longest previous shot, and the trigger puller was CANADIAN!
10 seconds of flight time for the round. Think of what you can do in ten seconds. I’m sitting at my desk. In ten seconds, I can be to my fridge and back and have my first sip of beer. The shot was great but everything fell into place perfectly. There’s so many factors that come into play here; the wind, terrain, and even the fucking curvature of the earth comes into play at that distance. What a shot, man. What a damn shot.
