TimeA Republican congressman told his constituents that he believes God will “take care of” climate change if it proves to be a “real problem.”

Michigan Rep. Tim Walberg said during a town hall in Coldwater, Mich., on Friday that while he believes climate change is real, it is not something for humans to solve.

“I believe there’s climate change. I believe there’s been climate change since the beginning of time,” Walberg said. “Do I think man has some impact? Yeah, of course. Can man change the entire universe? No.”

He continued: “Why do I believe that? Well, as a Christian, I believe that there is a creator in God who is much bigger than us. And I’m confident that, if there’s a real problem, he can take care of it.

Folks, stop flooding my timeline with your Paris Accord tweets.  Stop with the angry articles and essays on the environment and the lectures on what carbon emissions do to the atmosphere.  We’re fine.  We’re good.  And if we’re not fine and good?  God will fix it.  Just like he does with everything.  Seriously when was the last time we’ve had a real problem on Earth that God didn’t take care of for us?  O ye of little faith.  Stop fucking worrying so much.  You’re only on this planet for a short period of time (even shorter now according to like 99% of scientists, whatever, fucking nerds) so live it up while you can and leave all the troublesome stuff to the Big Man upstairs.  Carrie Underwood said it best, Jesus take the wheel, take it from our hands.

No seriously try that in a car.  Just let Jesus take the wheel.  Good way to test Congressman Walberg’s theory IMO.  If you crash and die due to a lack of control over the vehicle then and only then will I acknowledge the importance of polar ice caps.

PS,

All I can think about since this became news is how badass Waterworld was and how I need to rewatch it.

I mean if worst case scenario here is that I get to live on a sweet boat and swim around in a tropical climate all day breathing through my gills that’s not so bad.   I like to look at the bright side.
