Eminem Says "The Eminem Show" Was Based On "The Truman Show" And Jim Carrey "Basically Wrote" The Album

Genius - Eminem’s 2002 album The Eminem Show recently turned 15, and the Detroit rapper shared some insight into the project’s inspiration. In a handwritten note he posted on Instagram—that also included credits for the album—he explained that the 1998 film The Truman Show was the driving force behind the album’s creation.

“My life felt like it was becoming a circus around that time and I felt like I was always being watched,” he wrote. This falls in line with the film’s plot; Jim Carrey plays a man unwittingly living inside a TV show, where his life is broadcast to viewers around the world.

Jim Carrey –

Acting legend.

Comedic genius.

…One of the G.O.A.T rap ghostwriters??

Add it to his list of artistic triumphs.

Dumb and Dumber.  Ace Ventura.  Liar Liar.  The Mask.  Cable Guy.  Eternal Sunshine.   Truman Show.

The Eminem Show.

Rabbit hole time!

*Didn’t include this because I didn’t want to be a debbie downer and ruin the whole positive tone of the blog but should probably at least mention in passing the facts he allegedly gave his ex girlfriend STDs before she killed herself and is an anti-vaxxer,

That oeuvre though…
