A Flat Earther Confronted A NASA Scientist At A Starbucks For A Video, Shockingly Ended Up Looking Dumb

YouTube/Flat Earth Talk – Nathan Thompson, founder of the Official Flat Earth and Globe Discussion page on Facebook runs into a real live NASA employee at a local Starbucks! When he asks him why an astronaut almost drowned in space, he tells him, “It was because of saliva!”

Now I know what you’re thinking: The Earth is round. There’s a lot of science and evidence and years and years of research have taught us this. This polite NASA employee who, in theory, knows the universe better than you or I could with 1000 years of free time should know whether the Earth is flat. But you haven’t met Nathan Thompson, the founder of the Official Flat Earth and Globe Discussion Page on Facebook. That NASA scientist is likely a PhD who’s studied for years and worked for decades more studying every possible thing imaginable. But Nathan Thompson is not without his credentials too. For example, he can bounce a ping pong ball on a sledgehammer:

And shaves his beard to look like this willfully:

…so one could see how these titans of interplanetary thought are on an even playing field. Most scientific debates go on with someone with getting kicked out of a Starbucks but this is Superman/Lex Luthor, Batman/The Joker, two of the greats exchanging thoughts and being generally baffled that an astronaut could possibly drown in space when one of them thinks a NASA “sticker” is called a “cartoon freaking emblem.” You simply don’t get to see intellectual debates on two ends of the spectrum like this too often. Lincoln and Douglas’s long-rotted corpses would be turgid with excitement at mere prospect of this kind of embrace of debate. We’re all blessed to bear witness.
