Mike Francesa Attempting To Pronounce Giannis Antetokounmpo's Name Is Radio Magic

A lot of people look at Giannis Antetokounmpo and say he was put on this planet to play basketball. But it turns out that was wrong. I now believe that Giannis Antetokounmpo was put on this planet to be good enough at basketball for Mike Francesa to have to pronounce his name on his radio show. Listening to Mike swing and miss on a regular name is unintentional comedy at its best. Listening to him butcher the Greek Freak’s name is damn near poetry. If this wasn’t Mike’s swan song on WFAN, he probably would just have said Duh Kid From Duh Bucks (no way he says Milwaukee right) and happily move along. Mike has trouble pronouncing names like Joe Smith. But Swan Song Mike doesn’t give a shit. He’ll say whatever he wants. Just grip it and rip it and let the chips fall where they may.

And I’m not here to throw stones. I can’t and will never be able to say Antetokounmpo correctly. He is either Greek Freak or Giannis to me, no matter how great of a career he ends up having. But listening to Mike attempt to say it is what listening to him on the radio is all about. And the world is a better place for it.
