Eddie Murphy Sending A Cryptic "Coming To America Sequel?" Tweet And Then Deleting It Is Cruel, But I Am Okay With It

coming

What the fuck Eddie? You can’t just recklessly tweet something like that out then not only delete the tweet but delete your ENTIRE verified account. It’s not like we are talking about a Norbit sequel or a Daddy Daycare prequel. Coming To America is, for my money, the best Eddie Murphy movie ever. And it’s not even like I want a sequel to the movie to happen. Quite the opposite. I hate when sequels to classic comedies come out when the actors in the movie are still tossing 95+ on the gun because best case scenario the sequel disappoints, worst case scenario it sucks balls and tarnishes the original a little bit. Doing that to Coming To America and Prince Akeem Joffer of Zamunda would be a crime against comedy and maybe even humanity. If Eddie ends up giving us a ‘certified rotten’ sequel to that classic, I hope the ghost of Rick James smashes his dirtiest ghost shoes into the whitest couch at Eddie’s house.

Then again, this tweet doesn’t touch Steve Carrell’s twisted “joke” from two months ago.

I still haven’t recovered from that one.

P.S. It will be incredible if James Earl Jones can somehow get paid to reprise the roles of Darth Vader, King Jaffe Joffer AND Mufasa (in the upcoming live action version of Lion King) decades after the original movies came out. Cash dem checks, big fella!

And because it’s relevant to this blog and some people may need a laugh after the early games, here are some of the classic Coming To America scenes.
