U. of Minnesota is Replacing the Homecoming King and Queen with "Royals"

Prom

SourceThe University of Minnesota has become the latest university to do away with the traditional Homecoming King and Queen titles and replace them with the gender-neutral “Royals” term.

Taking it one step further, University of Minnesota officials also point out that the winners don’t even have to be one biological male and one biological female, stating on its website: “‘Royals’ … can be any combination of any gender identity.”

Campus officials called the change a move “toward gender inclusivity” that promotes “a spirit of inclusion at the University of Minnesota.”

Well thank God that problem’s been solved at last. I applaud the U. of Minnesota for recognizing that all the troubles in the LGBTQIA community can be traced right back to this critical issue. Homecomings and proms have long been a hotbed of hatred and intolerance, and having gender specific persons wearing the crowns has been the ground zero. I’m sure there are thousands if not millions of homophobic assholes out there who’ve used the existence of a Homecoming King and Queen to justify all sorts of heinous acts against transgendered people. In the same way they always used “It’s Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve.”

Well this will put a stop to that, once and for all. Now those sick, depraved, self-loathing sociopaths who used to make life miserable for transgenders won’t have the King and Queen club in their bag anymore. Now that we’re using Royals and eliminating those nasty, non-inclusive gender pronouns, it’ll be nothing but respect and acceptance from here on out. Thanks, Golden Gophers. You’ve saved the world with your words.
