Maryland Fan Tells Tom Crean He Ruined Program, Crean Tries to Kick Him Out of Arena

So this just happened after Indiana’s loss to Wisconsin in Washington D.C. and I think it’s possible for both people to be idiots in this situation. First, yeah, I get the fan can say whatever he wants, he didn’t swear and just sort of went at Crean. Ironically enough it’s a Maryland fan, not an Indiana fan like I thought originally.

If it was an Indiana fan, I’d get it because he’s frustrated that Indiana is just a middle tier program right now. But, ruined the program? Buddy here must have been thinking of Kelvin Sampson, who actually ruined the program. Crean did a great job of rebuilding Indiana from where it was and actually made them relevant. They won a couple B1G titles, were the favorites to win the NCAA title before Crean messed up against Syracuse’s zone. But, he did not ruin the program.

Second, it’s a bad look for Crean to try and kick the guy out. I’m sure Crean is more than frustrated with everything as the Hoosiers had hype this season and suffered injuries that really derailed it all. Plus, he catches heat all the time – most of it justified. Add in the fact he’s on the ‘hot seat’ and it’s easy to just be a human and be pissed. But, you just have to keep walking here and for sure don’t try to get him kicked out.

As for firing Crean? You can only fire him IF you can for sure get someone better than him – looking at you Archie Miller. I do think Indiana has hit its peak with Crean, but resetting with a guy that is equivalent to Crean isn’t the right move.
