Ben & Jerry's Is Launching Ice Cream That Tastes Like The Milk From Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops And Cocoa Pebbles

HuffPo- Ben & Jerry’s wants you to consider eating cereal for dessert. The ice cream company announced Tuesday that its newest flavors are based on three iconic cereal brands. Introducing Fruit Loot, Frozen Flakes and Cocoa Loco ? three new ice cream flavors that contain a swirl of cereal (and in Cocoa Loco’s instance, some chocolate as well). Which one would you try first?

”So why combine ice cream and cereal? Because the sweet milk at the bottom of a cereal bowl is arguably the best part,” Ben & Jerry’s flavor guru, Eric Fredette, said in a release announcing the new flavors. “We wanted to take our flavor concepts and make people feel like a kid again, which is how we landed our Cereal Splashback flavors.” The flavors will be served exclusively at Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops beginning in mid-March.

I absolutely, positively love this move out of the Willy Wonkas of frozen milk. Cereal is the breakfast of champions as well as the breakfast of the common man (right alongside bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches). But the sugary milk left after a feeding is the crown of said breakfast. Now that Ben and Jerry are going to take that flavor and bottle it up in ice cream form is perfect because I know they will do it right. Ben & Jerry’s are the Yankees of ice cream, if the Bombers didn’t cool off once George Steinbrenner died and their organization was full of hippies and rainbows instead of a cold, soulless bottom line. If Baskin-Robbins or Haagen Dazs tried to pull these flavors off, they would taste okay. Nothing great, but decent. However there is no doubt in my mind that Ben & Jerry’s will nail this shit. Your brain will be mindfucked that you are eating cereal-flavored milk ice cream without eating cereal before hand. Yes I know they offer cereal milk at Momofuku Milk Bar, but not everybody lives in New York or wants to drink a bunch of milk like a McPoyle. My one request is that if these flavors do well, they expand the flavor line to at least Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Golden Grahams, and Reese’s Puffs (which is the best cereal in the game, bar none).

And while I hate to do this as a longtime fan and as someone who works for a blog that isn’t the most dynamic-looking website in the world, I felt like I needed to give a quick tip to my friends Benjamin and Jerome. When designing a website for a food, try to avoid graphics that make it look like Peter North just came through town after finishing the Robbie Fox Challenge. Christ.

*Yes I know that is my 2nd Peter North reference of the day and in a row. Kinda torn about whether I want to go for 3 in my next blog or not.
