High School Kid Gets T'd Up For Dancing In The Middle Of Senior Night Game
You know what? I can appreciate what this referee did here. It was the responsible thing to do. Because that technical foul was a preemptive strike. That call prevented a murder. It was basically Pre-Crime.
I don’t think there’s anything in the rule book preventing a kid from gliding across the floor while playing. There’s nothing illegal about shuffling around at mid court like you’re Usher. But that kid was about to do something to that white boy that he would never ever live down. He was about to get his ankles broken, or a ball bounced off his face, or something completely mortifying and emasculating that would scar him for life. A true “EXPOSE HIM!!!” moment. Trust me, as a skinny white boy who used to get run off the court at Lincoln Park in New Rochelle Summer Leagues, those sort of embarrassing moments stick with you forever. That kid probably has dreams of getting into college and finding himself a girlfriend and accomplishing all sorts of stuff in life and that ref wanted to make sure all that could still happen. He wanted to make sure some cocky little asshole crip walking all over the court wasn’t going to snatch away all his confidence and dignity with some And 1 nonsense. It might have been a quick whistle but it also might have saved a life.
