Tuukka, Bs Nip Habs 2-1 in OT Thriller

I know most eyes were on the Pats last night but the Bs and Habs played an unreal game up in Stripperville last night. Sick hits. Some scrapping. Biased refs. Playoff intensity. Montreal typical, in other words. Most importantly, the Bs came home with the win when Ryan Spooner beat Carey Price with 1:40 left in OT.

Austin Czarnik, who has looked more and more comfortable lately, scored his third of the year late in the second. But the Habs kept pressing and overtime was starting to feel inevitable because this is Montreal, after all. And with 3:12 left in regulation, Paul Byron knotted things up to give Bs fans that “here we go again” feeling.

That feeling was amped up when David Krejci’s apparent game-winner was disallowed a minute into OT and I thought we were going to end up hearing that stupid fucking “Olé” song again. But Spooner but a bow on it after a sweet dish from Torey Krug.

Krug had a pretty active night for himself. After he absolutely LEVELED Andrew Shaw at center ice (as seen above), he scrapped with Brendan Gallagher in a tilt that may have reminded some of the Little Beaver vs. the Haiti Kid.

But Tuukka Rask was once again a monster for the Bs. He was beaten only once on 31 shots and made several huge saves including this doozie.

The Bs also got off the schnide after losing to two shitty teams in a row. This win sends the message that they can play with the Habs and they sure as hell won’t be intimidated going up to Montreal. They now have 34 points to stay in third place in the Atlantic, four points ahead of Tampa Bay. It doesn’t get any easier as they visit Pittsburgh tomorrow to take on the Stanley Cup champs and red-hot Sidney Crosby.
