Bruins, Khudobin Steal Two Points From Carolina To Jump Into Third Place

A boring-as-shit 59.5 minutes was shaping up to be just another lackluster Bruins effort in front of another lackluster Garden crowd resulting in another squandered opportunity. But then Teuvo Teravainen booted Torey Krug’s shot past a rejuvenated Cam Ward to tie the game at 1 and made the night do a 180.

After having the better chances in OT but no finish, David Pastrnak, who Claude wisely used as one of his first three shooters, scored the deciding breakaway tally with the above move to give the Bs an unlikely 2-1 win. The win allowed the Bs to leapfrog from 9th place to 3rd in the division. So yeah, pretty big swing there.

Anton Khudobin was great in net and notched his first win of the year in four starts. He was beaten only by a screened Noah Hanifin shot but his battling kept it a one-goal game and his team in it.

Krug’s second of the year capped a big night for the d-man. He led both teams with 28:07 of ice time in a bigger role necessitated by the losses of Zdeno Chara and John Michael Liles.

The Bs continue their 16-games-in-31-days tour tomorrow afternoon with a matinee in Buffalo vs. Jack Eichel, who just returned from injury and is already playing great.
