After Grabbing 18 Rebounds Last Night, Russell Westbrook Is Now Averaging A Triple Double

It’s getting to the point where Russell Westbrook is having an historic season. Averaging a triple double in today’s densely talented NBA is as special as Steph Curry shooting 40/50/90 while averaging 30 points a game, or anything that LeBron is doing right now. How people can argue that this era of the NBA is subpar is beyond me. It’s actually cool to play unselfish basketball. It’s not like an All Star shootout where the game is suffering because of a player chasing a stat line. His thirst for assists has him distributing and moving the ball and his hunger for rebounds has him hustling and actually caring about the game.

He’s really skying over 7’3 Kristaps Porzingis out of nowhere to snatch contested rebounds in a tight game, and the NBA is awesome because of it.

He’s keeping his team in the playoff picture too, and if the basketball gods have any sense of humor, we’ll see a Thunder-Warriors second round match up. Imagine how he would play against his newfound arch rival if he’s breaking his neck against a non-conference opponent in game 19 of the season.

And for anyone citing the fact that it’s still early in the season and suggesting that his stats will eventually even out, last night’s triple double was the second fastest in NBA history. It’s almost like it’s getting easier for him (and that he was playing the Knicks). There is no doubt we are watching something legendary.
