The Undertaker Announced His Comeback Last Night

Rolling Stone - “Now, I’m here tonight for two reasons,” The Undertaker said after making a dramatic entrance. “One, WrestleMania will no longer define who I am. I’m back, taking souls and digging holes. Survivor Series was where the Undertaker was born and SmackDown has always been my home.”

I’ve been way behind on my Raw and Smackdown viewing. I kinda get into lulls like this every year though, when the product is at it’s all time worst and there’s no point of watching because not much will be good. Besides Jericho, Raw is an abomination. If I see Mick Foley stammer and stutter about nonsense one more time I swear to baby Jesus. And Smackdown is decent from what I’ve seen, but I never really get around to watching it because they buried the show for a decade, it’s sort of hard to start caring about it now.

However, it’s usually right around this time that it starts to pick up again. From the Rumble in January to Mania in April is usually the time I pay closest attention because it seems the writers start giving a shit and the biggest names come out. Of course last year was an abortion because 8 of the top 10 talents got hurt all at the same time, but the point remains.

Undertaker coming back full time (or so he said) obviously is a big boost for the company. Undertaker puts asses in seats. Whether you’re a casual fan or die hard, everything he does is awesome. And he looks to be in great shape, and ready to wrestle. Fans are clamoring for Taker vs Styles, Taker vs Ambrose, and of course the almost inevitable match vs Cena at Wrestlemania 32, which could potentially be for the title too. Everyone knows I’m not a big fan of part timers getting main event runs, but Taker is a bit different. He’s the phenom, he’s a legend, and I still love watching him work.
