Charlie Sheen Wants To Throw Out The First Pitch At The World Series As 'Wild Thing' Ricky Vaughn

ESPN – Actor Charlie Sheen, who played the bespectacled Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn in the movie “Major League,” has offered to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before one of this year’s World Series games.

Shortly after Cleveland won the American League pennant on Wednesday in Toronto, fans began posting their wishes on social media to have Sheen — well, Vaughn — be part of the pregame festivities. The World Series opens Tuesday in Cleveland.

Sheen responded to the demand Thursday on Twitter, posting a photo of himself as Vaughn in his Indians uniform and writing, “Major League continues to be the gift that keeps on giving! if called upon, I’d be honored.”

I know the bloom has come off of Charlie Sheen’s rose in recent years. I know he’s a wild card to have on live national TV. I know we generally don’t want to trot our drug addict HIV sufferers as rally points for a professional baseball team. But this HAS to happen. If this music hits:

… and Charlie Sheen in full Ricky Vaughn attire comes to the mound, it would be as great a moment as Cleveland has ever experienced in a year full of memorable sports moments for them. The only mistake that Charlie Sheen made was not being on the bandwagon early. If he had been showing up to every game in the Wild Thing glasses, cheering them on as the Indians made this shockingly dominant run to the World Series, he would have been a sensation again, a Rally Monkey with some nostalgia on his side. Getting on the bandwagon in time for the World Series would still be an amazing moment. But if he had been in the stands for two rounds then came out from the bullpen for a first pitch in the World Series…pure electricity in the air.

That said, holy shit would there be pressure on Charlie Sheen to throw a solid one down the pipe. I’m not sure he has it in him. Might need a little snot on the ball.
