Danny Willett Describes His First Ryder Cup Experience In One Word: "Shit"

Funny moment at the European press conference after the Ryder Cup wrapped up yesterday involving Danny Willett, who had a rough weekend to say the least. First his brother WENT OFF on Americans. Pete Willett called us a “baying mob of imbeciles” and “pudgy, basement-dwelling irritants” so no shit Danny Willett had a bad week. You can’t expect American fans to respond kindly to something like that. Danny Willett’s week from hell was then compounded by the fact that he played like absolute shit. He went 0-3 in his matches and was a non-factor. Probably not how he envisioned it going.

By the way, to all the people talking about American fans being too rowdy at the Ryder Cup, I need you to know that I don’t care. Not one bit. People are saying, “Well Pete Willett was right after all about asshole Americans.” Shut the fuck up. Seriously. Have these people never been to a non-golf sporting event? Way worse things get said every Sunday at NFL stadiums around the country. Does that make it right? Of course not but what people have to understand is that there will always be a certain percentage of any crowd who is unruly and willing to say horrible things. For people to act like it was specific to this Ryder Cup is hilarious. Go back and watch the Europeans post-Ryder Cup press conference, Rory in particular. He basically said that, when people start drinking at 7am, there’s gonna be some crazy shit said when the afternoon rolls around. That’s just the way it is. He (and Darren Clarke and a few others) also said that 99% of the US crowd was awesome. Just a few bad apples. You wanna know how you don’t shut up that 1%? Constantly talking about them and making them one of the main narratives. So many other great things to talk about instead of a handful of fans who crossed the line.
