Protests Erupt In Charlotte After, You Guessed It, Police Kill A Black Man

Protests Break Out In Charlotte After Police Shooting

Protests erupted in Charlotte last night after a black police officer killed a black man:

I don’t care or curate based on what type accounts the footage is from; I just scour to embed the most fascinating footage.

Obviously worth noting and remembering that his brother had just been shot and killed.

Here’s more details on what happened:

CNNViolent protests erupted overnight in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a police officer fatally shot a black man while trying to serve a warrant for a different man at an apartment complex.

Police said the man killed, Keith Lamont Scott, had a gun. But his family members said he was carrying a book.

Several hundred people gathered outside the complex Tuesday night, chanting “no justice, no peace!” and carrying signs reading “Black Lives Matter.”

The officer who killed Scott, Brentley Vinson, is also black, the mayor’s office said Wednesday.

You know the drill. I don’t need to run through it all again. Those are the facts, the reports, and the footage — I’ve congregated them all nice and neat for you. What’s the case come down to? Please let Jay explain:

It’s a classic he said/he said situation. The black community obviously gets frustrated because they feel the police’s “he said” gets to be whatever they want it to be and gets supported by the entire police force, the investigation, etc. The police get frustrated because IMMEDIATELY these violent protests erupt before any type of investigation has the chance to produce facts and evidence.

Again, you know the drill by now. Over a dozen cops injured overnight. Fires in the street. Some vehicles destroyed. Kinda feels like I should just start copy+pasting this blog every morning, a shitty but way-too-real reality.
