That was a master class on how to make money as a street performer. Don’t play some shit you made up in your studio apartment or cardboard box on the street. Nobody wants to hear original music from some loser in the subway. That doesn’t put asses in the seats or dollars in the violin case. It’s the same advice I’d give to a wedding DJ: play the hits. Play the goddamn hits. It works every time. Play the songs people are gonna recognize and make them say, “Hey I recognize that song! I love that song! Here’s a dollar!” Play “Get Low” at a wedding and watch everybody lose their goddamn minds and shake their asses. Play the “Game of Thrones” theme song in the subway and watch people literally sprint to you and give you money. I guarantee the GOT them song part of his day is his biggest money maker. It helps that he crushed it.
