New Orleans Will Host The 2017 NBA All-Star Game During Mardi Gras Weekend
AP- The NBA has chosen to hold the 2017 All-Star Game in New Orleans after taking the midseason event away from North Carolina because of a state law that limits anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay and transgender people. The league announced Friday that New Orleans would replace Charlotte, which had been set to host the game until the NBA decided last month to move it elsewhere.
The All-Star Game is scheduled for Feb. 19, which falls during the first weekend of Mardi Gras parades.
Just as I was getting sad that the debauchery in Rio was winding down, the sports gods have graced us with something to look forward to once the football season is over and no longer able to carry the torch. I wasn’t sure if anything could possibly top the ridiculous stories that came out of the 2007 NBA All-Star weekend that was in Las Vegas. But this year’s game being in New Orleans during Mardi Gras weekend could top it. I imagine the Venn diagram of the people that go to Mardi Gras and the people that go to what is called the Black Super Bowl doesn’t have a ton of overlapping. So America’s best party city being packed with people that like to get fucked up in all types different ways should be AWESOME. No story from this weekend will surprise me. And you know who wins when that happens? The smut blogs. Especially with the improvements in cell phones and video recording over the last decade. Oh yeah and Twitter is absolutely huge now. This is the perfect storm for a party weekend and it will be a billion times more entertaining than if it was in Charlotte. So I guess thanks to the asshole politicians in North Carolina?
Now we just need to convince Pres to take our merry band of misfits to New Orleans during Mardi Gras weekend for all the #content #content #content. What could possibly go wrong?
