Last Chance U - Where Are They Now?

I declared it the must-watch show of the summer last week, and judging by the response from you guys, Last Chance U. was a smash hit. Hope everyone had a chance to finish, because as promised, here’s the follow-up “Where Are They Now” blog. Yeah I know the show isn’t “LOST” or anything but still, you might not want any spoilers for it.
Showtime John Franklin III
Never beat out Wyatt, but it didn’t matter after Gus Malzahn saw Showtime’s last game.
But in the final regular season game, with Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee in attendance, Franklin accounted for 291 total yards and six touchdowns in the first half, earning a scholarship offer from the Tigers. He took it, and is expected to compete for the starting job, where his legs would seem to make him a perfect fit for head coach Gus Malzahn’s system. [24/7]
He’s a main part of the 3 way QB battle there, and last report was that he may even have an edge for the starting spot. And, even if he doesn’t lock it down, it sounds like we’ll see plenty of him.
Ronald Ollie
The most lovably frustrating idiot on the whole show, poor Ollie got screwed over by his concussion and the punishments for the season ending brawl. Didn’t have enough tape on him to push for an SEC school, or any big school for that matter, and ended up at FCS school Nicholls State, where he’s currently listed on the roster.
Worst part was that he actually got all the grades he needed to go FBS.
Even with all the fighting and brawling, probably the worst look for Buddy Stephens in the whole show was him shunning Ollie and basically calling him a pussy for “faking” a concussion even after it was diagnosed by doctors.
DJ Law
Also frustrating but without the lovable part. You got hurt and just leave? Brittany “Tami Taylor” Wagner said it best…”to what? What’s the alternative?” And then to come back and find out you missed 18 quizzes. Not 1. Not 4. 18. When you are at a place that is literally called Last Chance U., you need those grades to play football, and you can’t just show up to take a 20 minute quiz. Fuck that.
Last info on him is he MAY be playing for UAB? He signed, but still isn’t on the fall roster and isn’t at practice yet.
Wyatt Roberts
Said he would retire without a big offer, and he did. Didn’t walk-on at Mississippi State…at first. But he did just join the squad after Elijah Staley transferred. So expect this scrappy “pickup truck” to compete for some PT there.
Isaiah Wright
One of my favorite moments of the season – when Wright snuck in to return a kick without telling the coaches and promptly returned it for a touchdown.
He dominated when Law was out with the knee and ended up getting offers from Auburn and FSU, ever heard of them?
Brittany Wagner
She was the star of the show. The protagonist. Coach’s Wife without being married.

Buddy Stephens
Still there, still large and in charge. The most polarizing figure of the show – is he a good coach? Is he a good guy? Does he really care about his players off the field? Is his asshole demeanor just tough love or is he really a prick? I loved his character, but honestly the shit with Ollie and some of his dogshit coaching moves made him seem like a pretty big asshole.
Wish he knocked this guy TFO though.
Lion Guy
Not sure, but pretty confident he’s just standing around growling somewhere.

Last Chance U. is getting a second season. Hell yeah.

Brooks Shannon, WR
East Mississippi likes to distribute the football to a lot of wide receivers. Shannon got a taste of that last year with 270 yards receiving as a freshman. He’ll be one of the primary targets though in his sophomore season. Southern Miss is currently his only scholarship offer.
De’Andre Johnson, QB
EMCC is replacing one Florida State (John Franklin III) transfer with another in Johnson. This time though, the FSU transfer is likely to win the starting job. Jimbo Fisher kicked Johnson off the football team after striking a woman in a bar during his freshman year in Tallahassee.
Chauncey Rivers, DL
Rivers would be playing a significant role at Georgia this fall if he could just stay away from the weed. Marijuana arrests acted as his ticket to Scooba where he’ll have no choice but to get focused on football if he wants to continue to play it at a high level. A four-star recruit out of high school, Rivers should be a beast if he can stay on the field.
Dakota Allen, LB
Allen finds himself at East Mississippi after being kicked off the team at Texas Tech for burglary charges. Allen had 87 tackles for the Red Raiders in the fall but was arrested in the spring for his role in the theft that included a safe full of guns.
